Firm Overview

RL Patents is a full-service patent development and management firm.  We view the task of securing solid patent protection for our clients to be the primary focus, from which monetization, enforcement and other activities follow.  Our firm is structured to handle projects of any size and complexity through our team and network of attorneys/agents, technical specialists, and paralegals.  We have direct experience of successfully handling thousands of applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other patent offices from around the world.

In addition to patent prosecution, we benefit from strong relationships with law firms throughout the United States and worldwide to aid our clients in services such as business counseling and formation, litigation, infringement opinion drafting, trademark and copyright registrations, and general intellectual property (IP) monetization.

Our Clients

From coast to coast and abroad, we’ve helped individual inventors, entrepreneurs, startups, corporations, and investor groups protect their valuable intellectual property assets.  We work on technology ranging from simple mechanical products to artificial intelligence (AI) software, and provide our clients with legal resources, business knowledge, industry connections and guidance in the strategic deployment of their assets to enhance shareholder value.  Under certain circumstances, we may be willing to invest in our client’s business, such as through the purchase of financial interests or by offering our services in exchange for equity.

Services and Fee Structure

By operating as a semi-virtual law consultancy and offering a transparent flat-rate fee structure, we are able to maximize our client’s finances.  Our firm never charges for calls or emails.  Some of our services include:

  • Strategy and portfolio development;
  • Preparing, filing and prosecuting patent applications with the USPTO (and patent offices worldwide);
  • Offering opinions on patentability;
  • Perform comprehensive patent searches for prior art;
  • Addressing USPTO post issuance proceedings;
  • Maintaining patents after issuance; and
  • Analyzing portfolios to determine underlying technologies.

Whether you're a public or private company, or an individual inventor, we can help.
